Almost from the beginning of European settlement in Florida, the birds in our state have fascinated anyone who saw them. Two hundred years ago, John James Audubon set out on a journey through Florida to paint several of our iconic birds.

Join John Nelson, the host of the Audubon Moment as he recreates Audubon's journey through Florida with images of our state's most beautiful birds, the paintings of John James Audubon, and excerpts from his ornithological biography from this expedition.

John Nelson is the past president of Audubon of Martin County and continues to serve on their board of directors. For the past twelve years, John has been the host and producer of The Audubon Moment which is currently heard on 3 public radio stations in Florida including WQCS‐FM 88.9. Additionally, John is a certified Florida Master Naturalist, Toyota Audubon Together Green Fellow, wildlife videographer, and photographer.
